UAE-golden visa holders can sponsor parents on 10-year residency

UAE residents who have a Golden Visa may now apply to sponsor their parents for a 10-year residency. This is a portion of the newly revised Golden Visa program, which became active on October 3.

In order to sponsor parents for a year's stay, an expatriate employee must "make a deposit as a guarantee for each parent as prescribed by the individual immigration agency."

The parents of someone who has a 10-year visa are being granted a 10-year Golden Visa. These were formerly issued for a year, just like it is done for people with regular residency.

Golden Visa holders are exempt from paying the deposit required to sponsor parents. They must provide proof that they are the parents' sole caregivers, which must be given by their respective consulates.

A monthly salary of at least Dh20,000 is often required for UAE residency visa holders to sponsor their parents. Even yet, Golden Visa holders are exempt from this wage criteria.

Since they were first introduced, qualified citizens have received hundreds of thousands of Golden Visas. Costs for the 10-year visa range from Dh2,800 to Dh3,800.
