UAE Emiratization: monitoring the compliance of rule

According to the Minister of Human Resources and Emiratization, the number of Emiratis employed in the private sector in the UAE increased by 27% in 2022 compared to 2020, which is a very significant growth. On January 1, 2023, penalties for not meeting the target will go into effect, with each unhired UAE national subject to a fine of Dh72,000 (annual contribution).

The current Emiratization rate of 2% is computed by dividing the total number of nationals working in the institution by the total number of skilled employees, which means hiring one Emirati for every 50 qualified employees per year. The government intends to enhance the Emiratization incremental rate in the private sector by 10% by 2026.

The Ministry keeps up its efforts to monitor the rate of Emiratization in the private sector, to promote compliant businesses, and to impose monthly contributions (or fines) and administrative penalties on non-compliant ones.

The ministry is dedicated to strengthening the engagement between the public and private sectors to develop employment possibilities for Emiratis and enhance the development of Emirati talents in different fields.

With the new government initiative to boost support for UAE citizens' salaries in the private sector, including the banking, financial, and insurance sectors, as well as free zones, businesses now have more opportunities to attract as many Emirati job seekers as possible and enable them to obtain the relevant experience in various crucial fields.
