    New guidelines for the sale of alcoholic beverages

     

    The Tourism Authority of Abu Dhabi has announced new rules for the sale of alcoholic beverages.

    The Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT) stated that these guidelines have been developed to ensure the safety of consumers and suppliers. Marketing organization firms have been given six months to comply.

    The Department of Culture and Tourism, Abu Dhabi has specified the technical and ingredient requirements for alcoholic beverages in a directive to distribution companies and retail shop managers.

    According to the DCT policy, "the minimum alcoholic strength should be 0.5 percent. Wine must be free from the taste or smell of vinegar, while beer must contain no artificial sweeteners, flavors, or colors except caramel. The product must be prepared and handled under suitable sanitary conditions”

    It should also be packed in clean containers that can protect it from damage. All information about ingredients, origin, manufacturer, shelf life, and percentage of alcohol must be specified on the labels.

    After six months, legal action will be taken against the violators.
