The agreement was signed between KIZAD and NWTN, part of AD Ports Group's Economic Cities and Free Zones.
Set to be Abu Dhabi's first assembly facility for electric vehicles, the announcement follows recent regulatory updates by the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, which seeks to accelerate the development of electric vehicle infrastructure as part of Abu Dhabi's Low Emission Vehicle Strategy. The new production facility is aligned with the UAE Net-Zero by 2050 as it strengthens industry expertise and increases the availability of low-emission vehicles in the UAE.
NWTN-led aims to build Smart Passenger Vehicles (SPV) that deploy AI technologies and personalized travel experiences.
NWTN initially plans to build a 25,000 square meter manufacturing, research and development, vehicle testing and logistics facility.  In the second phase, NWTN plans to introduce several new electric vehicle models and increase capacity to 50,000 units per year.
Attracting electric vehicle manufacturers to Abu Dhabi will play a key role in enabling Abu Dhabi's economic vision and is aligned with the recently announced Abu Dhabi Industrial Strategy.
