A revamp of the UAE's entry permits and visa regulations

Some new changes will come into effect next month as part of a revamp of the UAE's entry permits and visa regulations. The new entry permits will increase the chances of applying for different types of visas to make the UAE an attractive tourist destination.

As part of the new reform, for the first time, visitors are offered different types of visas for different visit purposes without the need for a host or sponsor. These visas are offered for as long as the visitor's needs and the purpose of the visit are met. The new visa for visiting the UAE, starting in September 2022, will allow a 60-day stay, up from 30 days earlier.

In addition to the regular tourist visa sponsored by tourism organizations in the UAE, a five-year multi-entry tourist visa is also introduced. This new visa does not require a sponsor.

The requirements are that the applicant must have a bank balance of $4,000 (or equivalent in other currency) in the 6 months prior to the visa application. People can stay in the UAE for up to 90 consecutive days, the only condition being that it should not exceed 180 consecutive days in a year.

A job exploration entry visa does not require a sponsor or host.  It is granted to those classified at the first, second, or third skill level by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation and fresh graduates from the world's top 500 universities, with a minimum education level of a bachelor's degree or its equivalent.

A business entry permit that does not require a sponsor or host, and investors to explore business and investment opportunities in the UAE. It also aims to encourage entrepreneurs. According to the current amendment, a visitor can apply for this entry permit if he is a relative or friend of a UAE citizen or resident.  It does not require a sponsor or host. 

Entry Permit for Study and Training:- This permit is for those participating in training and study courses and/or internship programs. Sponsors can be universities, educational or research institutes licensed in the country, or government or private institutions. It requires a letter from the entity specifying the details of the study, training, or internship program or its duration.

Entry Permit for a Temporary Work Mission permit is intended for those with a temporary work assignment, such as probation testing or a project-based mission. This visa is sponsored by the employer. This requires a temporary employment contract or a letter from the employer stating the purpose of the visit and health and fitness to work.
